Marina Pribaz is a ceramic artist living and working in Daylesford, Victoria.

She creates fine, delicate functional porcelain and sculptural porcelain work.

She states:

“Fragility and resilience are the overarching themes underpinning my work over the years. Within this broad spectrum, is an investigation and various iterations of these ideas.

Most recently I have been exploring the themes of our internal and external forests. I use the Hepburn Regional Park Forest, that hugs the township of Daylesford, as the muse for these inquiries. I am interested in what is hidden as much as what is seen, navigating my way through the layers and minutiae of the forest floor. I find parallels with our internal forest, which holds many aspects of our unconscious realm, hidden from our conscious presence.

The functional porcelain work also finds its voice in the landscape- mapping our internal and external environments.

Teapots and the Midnight Garden series evoke an earlier childhood innocence imbued with memories and whimsy.

The Endangered Animals series brings attention to our fragile ecosystem and often disappearing native fauna and flora, brought about by loss of habitat, climate change and introduced species.

I also wonder whether our own creative, fertile, inner ground and imagination is being eroded by social media and its demands on our time.”
